1.About these terms

Famcho is run by [COMPANY NAME] Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number [COMPANY NUMBER]), whose registered office is at [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS]. These terms are the agreement between us and the grown-up who creates a Famcho family or joins one (“you”). By creating an account you agree to them, and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we use your family's data.

The short version

  • Famcho is for families. A grown-up sets it up and is responsible for how their kids use it.
  • Every new family gets 7 days of Pro free, with no card needed. After that you choose: subscribe, or carry on with Free.
  • Cancel any time in Plan & billing. Pro keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Coins aren't real money. You decide what they're worth and you pay any pocket money yourselves.
  • Your family's content is yours. Be kind, and don't misuse the service.

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

2.Your family and accounts

  • You must be 18 or over and live in the UK to create a family or join one as a grown-up.
  • The grown-up who creates a family runs it. They can invite other grown-ups, who get the same controls, and add kids.
  • Give accurate details, and keep your password, your family code, any kid PINs and your Family Board screens safe. Tell us straight away at hello@famcho.co.uk if you think someone has got into your family's account.
  • You're responsible for what happens in your family's account, including anything done through the Family Board or on a device you've left signed in.

3.Kids using Famcho

Kids can only use Famcho as part of a family set up by a grown-up. When you add or invite a child, you confirm you're their parent or carer, or have that person's permission, and that you're happy for them to use Famcho as described in our Privacy Policy.

You're responsible for supervising your kids' use of Famcho, and for the chores you give them. Only set chores that are safe and suitable for your child's age and ability. This applies to chores suggested by Famcho or its AI suggestions too: they're ideas, not instructions, and a grown-up should always check them.

4.Plans, the free trial and payment

Plans

  • Free: keep ticking off chores and earning coins, with the Family Board, levels, badges and leaderboards.
  • Famcho Pro: everything else, including creating chores, routines, rotas, approvals, the shop and invites.
  • Add-ons (such as the Fun Pack and Money Skills) are optional extras you can add to Pro.

What's in each plan, and the current prices, are shown on our pricing section and in the app before you pay. Prices include VAT where it applies.

Free trial

Every new family gets 7 days of Pro, including add-ons, for free. We don't ask for a card, so nothing is charged when the trial ends. Your family moves to Free unless you choose to subscribe. If you subscribe during the trial, you won't be charged until the trial ends.

Subscriptions

  • Subscriptions are monthly or yearly, paid in advance through Stripe, and renew automatically until you cancel.
  • If we change our prices, we'll tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
  • If a payment fails, Stripe will try again over the following days and Pro keeps working in the meantime. If payment still can't be taken, your family moves to Free.
  • Only grown-ups can pay. Kids can ask a grown-up to upgrade, but they can't buy anything themselves.

5.Cancelling and refunds

  • Cancel any time in Plan & billing (“Manage billing”). Pro and any add-ons keep working until the end of the period you've paid for, then your family moves to Free. Nothing is deleted.
  • 14-day cooling-off period: under UK consumer law you can cancel within 14 days of your first paid subscription starting. Email hello@famcho.co.uk within that time and we'll refund that first payment in full.
  • After that, we don't usually give refunds for part-used periods, but we will where the law says we must (for example, if Famcho doesn't work as described), and you can always ask.

6.Coins, rewards and pocket money

Coins, streaks, trophies, outfits and other in-app items are part of the game. They have no cash value, can't be sold or swapped for money with us, and aren't kept if a family is deleted.

Rewards in your family's shop are promises between your family members, not from Famcho. With Money Skills you can give coins a pocket-money value and run a savings jar with interest. That's a way of keeping track: Famcho doesn't hold, pay or transfer any money, and any pocket money or interest is paid by you.

7.Your content

Everything your family puts into Famcho (chores, rewards, messages, photos) stays yours. You give us permission to store, display and process it only so we can run Famcho for your family. Photo proof is deleted automatically after 14 days.

Don't upload anything you don't have the right to share, and please keep photos to the finished chore, not people.

8.Using Famcho fairly

Please don't:

  • use Famcho to bully, harass or harm anyone, or to post anything unlawful or inappropriate for children;
  • try to get into another family's data, guess family codes or PINs, or get around the plan limits;
  • attack, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, except as the law allows;
  • resell Famcho or use it to run a business without our written agreement.

9.AI suggestions and connected services

AI suggestions are generated automatically and can be wrong or unsuitable. Check them before you use them.

If you connect Famcho to another service (such as Discord, a webhook or an AI assistant), you're choosing to send your family's data there, and that service's own terms apply. We're not responsible for services we don't run. If you connect an AI assistant, it can take actions in Famcho on your behalf, such as creating chores, so only connect ones you trust.

10.Changes to Famcho

We're always improving Famcho (see the changelog), so features will change over time. We'll make sure any change doesn't make Famcho materially worse for what you've paid for. If it would, we'll tell you and you can cancel and get a refund for any unused time.

We work hard to keep Famcho running, but it may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or because of problems outside our control.

11.Ending the agreement

You can stop using Famcho at any time. To have your family and its data deleted, email privacy@famcho.co.uk (see Your data rights).

We may suspend or close an account if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken, or to protect a child or other users. Where we reasonably can, we'll warn you first and give you the chance to put things right. If we close a paid account through no fault of yours, we'll refund any unused time. We may also stop offering Famcho altogether. If we do, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice, a refund for unused time, and a way to get a copy of your data.

12.Our responsibility to you

We provide Famcho with reasonable care and skill. If we fail to keep to these terms, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that failure. We aren't responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable, or for business losses: Famcho is for household use only.

We don't exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, and your rights as a consumer, such as a digital service being provided with reasonable care and skill and as described.

Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose.

13.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when Famcho or the law changes. If a change significantly affects you, we'll tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel before then.

14.Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.

If something goes wrong, please email hello@famcho.co.uk first. Most problems can be sorted out quickly.
